Meet Eddie
After 11 years is was time to make a change, the truck was a ticking time bomb of repairs and taking up to much room in the garage. Because of its poor gas mileage it was only moved to get it out of the way or the occasional trip to Lowes, it was a waste to have it. We have had a truck for over 20 years and I can remember saying “I’ll always have a truck, no way to live without it!” I guess there better be a way because we traded it in for a 2010 Prius…….
When we were finishing up the deal the salesman looked up and said “Boy this is going to be a big change, going from a big truck to this little Prius”. I almost got up and left, I really didn’t need to be reminded at that point what kind of change it was going to be. It was sad to drive away as the truck stayed behind, but the bottom line is that when a US made/designed vehicle hits 100K miles it’s finished. Plus it is a gas hog and I’m guessing as soon as the economy starts to get better gas is only going to go up. There is nothing like standing next to a truck that gets 15 mpg and filling up a 30 gallon tank with $4.00 gallon gas. The Prius should easily get 45 mpg, but even that comes at a price, they’re not giving those cars away. My bottom line turns out to be who do I want to give my money to, it cost to drive, it’s only who you pay. Do I want to get a cheaper car that only gets good gas mileage or spend more for a car that gets excellent mileage? Do I want to give my money to the enemy for the gas or to the Japanese for what hopefully is a great car…
Meet Eddie!
